Head of Costume Design and Instruction

The Head of Costume Design and Instruction is responsible for teaching foundational principles and techniques of costume design and construction to students in a variety of settings, such as schools, community centers, or workshops. The instructor will develop and deliver an engaging curriculum and hands-on instruction to help students develop a solid understanding of costume design, construction, and related practical skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and deliver curriculum: Create lesson plans and instructional materials that cover the basics of costume design, construction, and related skills, ensuring that the content is engaging, informative, and age-appropriate for the target audience.
  • Instruct and demonstrate: Provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations to students, guiding them through the process of creating and assembling basic costumes, using a variety of materials and techniques.
  • Foster creativity: Encourage students to explore their creativity and develop their designs while providing guidance and support as they learn the fundamentals of costume construction.
  • Provide feedback and support: Offer constructive feedback and guidance to students as they work on their projects, helping them troubleshoot and refine their techniques.
  • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment: Ensure that the learning space is safe, clean, and well-organized, with appropriate tools and materials available for student use.
  • Manage resources: Oversee the use of tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring that they are handled safely and responsibly by students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues: Work collaboratively with other instructors, staff, and administrators to coordinate activities, share resources, and contribute to the overall success of the program.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and events as required.

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time

SALARY: $65,000
